A 30 minute video exploring different methods of acting
In
this video we shall examine the basic film requirement of getting the message
from the script to the screen. This is not to be confused with getting
the words from the page to the screen. To demonstrate this a single,
ambiguous, paragraph will be read out by the same actor, in the same neutral
location with the same lighting et cetera.

However the character of the
actor and his method of interpretation will change so that with each reading
we, the viewers, receive a different emotion. This will hopefully demonstrate
how a director and an actor working together on a passage can bring out many
subtleties that may at first be missed, after all, our passage has no blatant
rendering. The passage is as follows:
| Christ - this makes my head hurt. Don't let this go on any more. We've been through all of this before my old friend. You've been through so much. We all have. Just leave it all behind and move on. It was you who taught me that many years ago. Remember Charlie? Well look what happened to him. You know I've never admitted it but you were right all along. Oh. One day I shall look back on all of this and laugh. |
This passage, with no surrounding context, says nothing but we shall try
and project the following emotions from it.
The Directors:
Karl Oldridge & Tim Clague
The Actor:
Jeff Bellamy
