A video collage exploring the awakening of an old man's long forgotten hope
and his relationship with a young girl.
And how he risks all he has in one last effort to reach out to her - All or
Nothing. Set against a backdrop where new ideas are unheard of - images, sounds,
feelings, life itself can be endlessly copied and repeated, now that everything
has been reduced to the digital components: 1 or 0 - All or Nothing.
All or Nothing uses layers of different media - video, still images, 2D graphics
and 3D animation to give a unique and surreal look.
In total over 2 gigabytes of data was used or generated - a lot in 1997. As
part of the brief only domestic or semi-pro equipment was used. This includes
an Amiga 1200 with a low cost video digitizer. All software was either free
on a magazine cover or was a shareware release. The total cost of the hardware
was £800.00 ($1300.00). The final piece was assembled on a basic 2 machine
SVHS edit suite. This production including all image generation, music composition and distribution used absolutely no Microsoft products. Microsoft limits our choice.
