ALL OR NOTHING TITLE

OVERVIEW

The first project by Projector Films was the computer based project All Or Nothing made in 1997. This is perhaps an area of film making that has advanced the most. Each frame of this film was worked on as a still image with the 10 meg of RAM only holding a limited number of frames at a time. The advent of programs such as After Effects running on home PCs and Macs means that this type of production is now more possible than ever. Recent productions such as Molecule Destiny and Weight of a Wall grew out out of this early experiment.

ALL OR NOTHING SYNOPSIS

SCREENSHOT 1 A video collage exploring the awakening of an old man's long forgotten hope and his relationship with a young girl. SCREENSHOT 2 And how he risks all he has in one last effort to reach out to her - All or Nothing. Set against a backdrop where new ideas are unheard of - images, sounds, feelings, life itself can be endlessly copied and repeated, now that everything has been reduced to the digital components: 1 or 0 - All or Nothing.

TECHNICAL METHOD

SCREENSHOT 3 All or Nothing uses layers of different media - video, still images, 2D graphics and 3D animation to give a unique and surreal look.SCREENSHOT 4 In total over 2 gigabytes of data was used or generated - a lot in 1997. As part of the brief only domestic or semi-pro equipment was used. This includes an Amiga 1200 with a low cost video digitizer. All software was either free on a magazine cover or was a shareware release. The total cost of the hardware was £800.00 ($1300.00). The final piece was assembled on a basic 2 machine SVHS edit suite.
