CONSECRATION  SCRIPT

SHOOTING SCRIPT

BLACK - AN ALARM CLOCK GOES OFF
FADE UP TO:
1.1: The camera pans across a half empty double bed and then moves from the ear around the face of
middle-aged WOMAN, to the eye, which opens suddenly making the pupil close.
   WOMAN:
 What have I done?
1.2: She sits up in bed and rubs her eyes.
   WOMAN:
 It never used to be like this.
2.1: A couple of Alka-seltzer tablets drop into a glass, which is sitting on a balcony edge and make
the water fizz.
   WOMAN:
 It's Bridget's fault. Just a couple she said.
2.2: She knocks back the drink through her chapped lips.
   WOMAN:
 It would do me good, she said.
2.3: She peers at her bloodshot eyes in the mirror.
   WOMAN:
 Oh. This is not a good start to the day.
2.4: And massages her temples
   WOMAN:
 And today of all days.
2.5: She drains her drink, tipping her head back, which makes her giddy.
   WOMAN:
 Not that any day's that brilliant is it? I'm sure she spiked
 my drink.
3.1: She runs the water into the bathroom basin.
   WOMAN:
 Still new day and all that. Start a new page.
3.2: And splashes her face with it, before looking back at herself in the mirror.
   WOMAN:
 Must make an effort.
  (pause)
4.1: A tray of make up implements are placed on the dressing table.
   WOMAN:
 I hate the doctors.
4.2: She sorts through until she finds a pair of tweezers.
   WOMAN:
 Well not the doctors themselves, just the place, and the......
  (her voice trails off)
4.3: CU of eye in profile. She brings the tweezers up into the image.
   WOMAN:
 My doctors very nice in fact,
4.4: She plucks out an eyebrow.
   WOMAN:(cont.)
 very young.
5.1: Back in the bathroom shaving cream is applied to her leg.
   WOMAN:
 He doesn't even wear a white coat, he wears a pin-striped suit,
5.2: She inspects her razor,
   WOMAN:(cont.)
 looks more like a banker, he looks very sharp,
5.3: And then drags the blade up her leg.
   WOMAN:(cont.)
 cuts quite an image with the ladies.
5.4: She runs the blade roughly over a reluctant area.
   WOMAN:
 Why shouldn't I be able to go after a younger man.
5.5: The blade is washed under the running tap.
   WOMAN:
 Men get to do anything they want.
6.1: The woman's face is distorted as we see her looking back through an illuminated magnifying glass.
   WOMAN:
 I mean, I don't consider myself a bad catch.
6.2: She scrubs off her top layer of skin with an abrasive pad.
   WOMAN:
 Maybe I'm not as young as I used to be - or as firm -
 or as giggly...
6.3: She applies foundation heavily.
   WOMAN:
 It's the  person underneath says Bridget.
6.4: She puts on eye-liner.
   WOMAN:
 But I don't suppose men look that deep.
7.1: She forces her toes into her high-heeled shoe crushing them.
   WOMAN:
 Any tart can catch their attention.
8.1: She pushes the metal through her lobe.
   WOMAN:
 They're piercing eyes only go down one layer.
9.1: She gives herself a final check in the mirror by the front door.
   WOMAN:
 I don't think I'd want to go out with a Doctor anyway.
9.2: She opens the front door letting the light flood in and she leaves.
   WOMAN:
 Wouldn't know where his hands had been.
FADE TO BLACK
FADE UP TO:
10.1: An eye at the side of the shot looks out at an out of focus scene.
   WOMAN:
 I suppose I should have seen it coming all along.
10.2: She peers at a sign, which remains out of focus, and then looks around quickly.
   WOMAN:
 The clues were there if I'd have looked properly.
10.3: She quickly pulls out her glasses, puts them on, the sign comes into focus, "Doctor"
   WOMAN:
 But you only see what you want to see don't you.
11.1: The woman takes a seat in the waiting room.
   WOMAN:
 I mean, 'working late again'.
12.1: We look across at other people waiting.
   WOMAN:
 Who falls for that old one any more?
12.2: CU - one patient cracks his knuckles.
   WOMAN:
 Bridget says I'm best shot of him.
12.3: CU - one fat, patient bites his nails.
   WOMAN:
 Says I let him get away with too much.
12.4: CU - one patient picks his nose.
   WOMAN:
 I've got more money now as well.
12.5: One scrawny-looking patient is crawling on the floor, looking for something.
   WOMAN:
 I suppose it doesn't all go on her.
13.1: The woman flicks through a magazine, far too quickly to possibly take any of it in.
   WOMAN:
 And at least it's taken my mind of having to come here.
14.1: The scrawny-looking patient crawling on the floor wants to examine around the fat patients foot.
   WOMAN:
 How much longer? I'm being silly I suppose.
13.2: The woman peels back a free perfume sample in the magazine and rubs it on her arm.
   WOMAN:
 It can't be healthy putting all the ill people together in one
 stuffy room.
14.2: The fat patient takes offence and starts pushing the scrawny-looking patient away.
   WOMAN:
 Although it's his fault I'm here in the first place.
15.1: A patient hanging out of the window having a cigarette turns to see what the fuss is.
   WOMAN:
 I don't know what 'little leaving present' he's given me.
14.3: The scrawny-looking patient has found something.
   WOMAN:
 He knows I hate coming here. It's as if he did it on purpose.
15.2: The other patients just look on.
   WOMAN:
 Bridget says there could be a reason behind it.
16.1: The scrawny looking patient stands into the frame, looking pleased.
   WOMAN:
 Perhaps something in the past that effected me deeply.
16.2: The scrawny looking patient brings his contact lens up to his eye.
   WOMAN:
 I think she watches to much Kilroy.
WHIP PAN TO:
17.1: The doctor looking at the woman.
   WOMAN:
 I just can't help it.
JUMP CUT TO:
18.1: The doctor examining his hypodermic needle.
   WOMAN:
 I don't know why.
18.2: CU Needle point
   WOMAN:
 There's just something about injections...
18.3: POV Needle as it races towards her arm.
   WOMAN:(cont.)
 ..isn't there.
